Tech Tuesday: Preventing Diabetes & Prediabetes

Join us for an evening of networking and learning about an exciting new health tech startup. This month’s topic is “Breakthrough Technologies for Preventing Diabetes and Prediabetes.” Dr. David P. Cistola, Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, will discuss breakthrough technology his lab has developed to identify early metabolic imbalance (EMI). EMI is a hidden condition that increases risk of future diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This proprietary technology uses a miniaturized magnetic resonance device to measure T2 in a tiny blood sample, a marker of cardiometabolic health and detects EMI. Dr. Cistola has recently founded the startup company T2YourHealth to commercialize this rapid, practical, inexpensive test based on extensive research data. Dr. Cistola leads a research lab focused on translating new diagnostic technologies into early screening tests for cardiometabolic health. He has held various academic positions to include the Vice President for Research & Innovation at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He graduated from the M.D.-Ph.D. program at the Boston University Avedisian & Chobanian School of Medicine.
