Event Details

Green Hope Project is raising money to bring Bordalo II, a world-renowned recycled art muralist, from Portugal, to create a 58-foot mural downtown at the ONE San Jacinto Plaza building, across from the Plaza. The mural will depict a species of greatest conservation need from Texas, the mountain lion, in hopes to raise awareness about the plight of animals in our state. In an effort to fund the remainder of this project, we will have a family-friendly morning on August 6th from 10 am-2 pm at the Alamo Drafthouse on the West Side (250 Montecillo Boulevard). We will begin the morning with art vendors on the patio, ready to show off and sell their handmade goods. We will also have informational booths from local wildlife rehabilitators. You will have a chance to bid on artwork, certificates, and several other items donated by local businesses and artists. After you've had a chance to shop around and bid on some auction items, you will make your way to the theater, where we will have a short screening of the Bordalo II documentary, Life of Waste, and a movie screening of Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story. Deep in the Heart is a visually stunning celebration of Texas’ diverse landscapes and remarkable wildlife found nowhere else. Narrated by Matthew McConaughey, the film aims to conserve our remaining wild places, show the connectivity of water and wildlife, and recognize Texas’ conservation importance on a continental scale. We will end the fundraiser by announcing the winners of the auction. Some very lucky individuals will go home with some amazing swag and beautiful artwork! All proceeds raised will go towards funding the installation and maintenance of the Mountain Lion Mural by Bordalo II. Tickets are $10 Movie trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNZ71xjAE0U For more information contact Candace Printz at (915) 731-6271 or info@greenhopeproject.org.
