Step back in time and experience a night of entertainment 17th century style.
Ever wonder how people kept themselves entertained in the days before TV, smartphones, and pre-recorded music? Step back in time to when El Paso was a sleepy old west cow town and experience the popular music of the day. We will begin the evening with a fire building demonstration and program before we jump into the night of music and stories from the mid 1800's. Bring: water, snacks, and comfortable clothes for the weather Optional: camp chairs, and blankets Fee: $5 for adults 13 years old and up; $0 for Texas State Park Pass holders and children 12 and under. Please purchase your permit ahead of time at the Tom Mays Visitor Center, or online at texasstateparks.reserveamerica.org Meeting location: The Visitor Center in the Tom Mays Unit. When you enter Tom Mays, pull into the first parking lot to the right and don't forget to display your entrance permit in your windshield. The event will be held around the fire pit. Directions: From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left. From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles through the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right. If using a GPS be sure to search for "2900 Tom Mays Access Road," not "Franklin Mountains State Park."Time
