Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was founded by Dan Evins in 1969, with the first location opening in Lebanon, Tennessee. Evins aimed to create a place where travelers could find good food, a unique shopping experience, and a sense of home along major highways. The restaurant's initial concept included a general store, gas pumps, and a dining area, drawing inspiration from the old country stores of his childhood.
