Plaza Classic Film Festival: Finding Nemo

This animated adventure, written and directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Dory, WALL-E), follows the classic hero’s tale narrative structure. Marlin, a clownfish voiced by Albert Brooks, is forced to face his fears and leave home in search of his son, Nemo, when Nemo is captured by a fishing vessel. Nemo finds himself in a dentist’s aquarium and works with the other captured fish (voiced by Willem Dafoe, Brad Garrett, and Allison Janney) to plot their escape. Meanwhile, Marlin is helped by his sidekick Dory, a blue tang voiced by Ellen DeGeneres in a memorable performance that spawned the sequel Finding Dory. Marlin travels great lengths to reunite with his son, learning important lessons — mostly about himself — along the way. — Lisa Elliott
