Cemetery Preservation Tour

Celebrate Preservation Month and 150 years of the City of El Paso by joining us between 11 and noon for a Cemetery Monument Preservation tour and hands-on class with Machelle Wood. You will learn what it takes to keep the headstones preserved for future generations. Gloria Garza and Machelle Wood will walk you through the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery and describe how to clean headstones, what types of damage can be repaired, and how a headstone can be kept readable into the future. Information on the Texas Historical Commission’s Cemetery Program will also be made available. Afterward, join us for a no-host lunch across the street at Chico’s Tacos, but bring cash as they do not take cards. Dress comfortably and wear sunscreen.
