Campfire & S'mores at Franklin Mountains State Park

Stories have always been a part of our traditions. Join the park rangers for a relaxed evening of sharing s'mores and stories around the campfire.

Celebrate Campfire day by hanging out around the fire with us at Franklin Mountains State Park. Fire-building demonstration begins at 6:00 pm, and s'mores will be passes out at 6:30 pm. No reservations needed. Bring: water, snacks, and a flashlight Optional: folding chairs, binoculars, camera, and s'mores makings. Fee: $5 for adults 13 years old and up; $0 for Texas State Park Pass holders and children 12 and under. Please reserve your pass ahead of time at texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com or come in before 3:45 to purchase it at the Visitor Center. Meeting Location: The Visitor Center in the Tom Mays Unit. When you enter Tom Mays, pull into the first parking lot to the right and go into the main visitor center to get your entrance permit. The event will held around the campfire ring. Directions:
  • From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards the mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left.
  • From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles over the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right.
  • If using a GPS be sure to search for "Tom Mays Access Road," not "Franklin Mountains State Park."
